The Intensive English Course

The Intensive English Course is for students who wish to see rapid improvement in their English. The Course length is in two-week blocks with each course being designed round the specific needs of the students.

The course may be used to:

• Provide the required boost to study
• To remedy weaknesses in certain areas of English
• To prepare for such examinations as Cambridge First Certificate, Cambridge Advanced and IELTS.
• Prepare for Business courses

Each week is made up of THIRTY HOURS OF TUITION 15 hours are General English; 5 hours of media-based English; 10 hours of Special Interest Groups. The Special Interest Groups are groups set up to mirror the exact wishes of the students enrolled. Thus if the students on the course have all enrolled to further their business interest, the Special Interest group will be Business English. If instead the majority of participants have as a special interest language and culture, then specialist teachers for that area will be appointed by the Oxford School of Learning.

In that way the Intensive English Course is designed to supply EXACTLY what all the students need.

Remember the whole week is THIRTY HOURS of tuition. The TEN hours of Special Interest Group tuition could be:

Ten hours of Business English. This would cover a variety of business situations, role-play and simulations. At the end of the course all participants would be eligible to take a professional examination in Business English.

Ten hours of IELTS Preparation. The two-week course would have as a special interest, IELTS preparation. Students will be given extensive practice for the IELTS examination.

Ten hours of Oxford Culture and Life. This would include tours of Oxford buildings and academic centres. External lectures would be attended. Lessons would consist of preparation for the visits.
